It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year… Fall Favorite Things Edition

If you know anything about me, you KNOW that I love the Fall & Holiday Season (September – December)!  I love when the air turns from Hot & Muggy to Cool & Crisp.  I love that first Pumpkin Spice Latte of the Season and the first time I feel chilly enough to put on my Ugg boots (mine are SO cute, Short, Sparkle in the Autumn Color – got them last year for Christmas!).

So my post today is basically to share some of my Favorite things about Fall… Enjoy!

Here is a collage I did on the First Day of September to Celebrate that Fall is Here!

It has not quite gotten cold enough yet for me to put my Ugg boots on… but I believe it will be very soon!

I started decorating my house for Fall this weekend, but don’t think I forgot about my cube! I love having my spaces Festive!

Missing You Already…

My very best best best friend in the whole wide world is moving to Boston this week, which is exactly 2,975.5 miles away from me in Washington state (yes, I Googled it).  We have known each other for 22 years and have been BBBF’s for 15 of those 22years.

I am not going to write a novel about this, because she knows how much I love her and how much I will miss her – but I do want to say a few things about why she is my very best best best friend:

  • Laughter: Beyond our “fake laughing” pictures that we have taken together for years, we genuinely laugh together constantly, haha.
  • The Real & The Raw: Britt is one of only about 2 people in my life that I have a huge amount of respect for and allow to tell me when I need to shape up or ship out and I actually listen!  Remember that one time you made me get a Facebook… actually you created me a Facebook and I was not happy?  Haha, thank you.
  • Worship: We have literally grown up together singing & leading worship.  I was trained up by some amazing mentors and then in turn I was able to be there for you and help you, along side others, become the Worship Leader you are today.  THEN we continued to grow together as Worship Leaders – constantly encouraging one another to continually raise the bar and have Godly confidence while doing so.
  • Music: I love that our passion for music is so similar.  Thank you BRW for putting up with the endless amount of country music that I would be so excited to show you… I know that couldn’t have been easy, LOL.
  • Shopping:  Probably one of our favorite things to do together, even though we never had the time – we somehow always found the time 😉
  • Endless Pictures:  I think I have more pictures with you then literally anyone else in my life.  But really… I’m not joking.  From all of our car photo shoots (that were really so dangerous… haha) to actual really good pics of us.  You have always take the best profile pics of me!!! I’ll have to find someone else, which is impossible… but I’ll try.
  • Wedding Bells: Some of my favorite pictures from my wedding are with you – I could not have imagined my wedding without you in it.  THEN, the moment we had all been waiting for (well, specfically me so I could finally talk to you wife-to-wife about… well you know… haha) Your wedding day.  I’m so happy you are married and that you married Rals and that our hubby’s love hanging out!  Our next Double Date will be in BOSTON!!!

There really is so much more I could write and so many other reasons why I love our friendship, but the above is a good summary!

I love you to the moon and back BRW.  See you on Face Time! Or wait… Google chat… or Skype – see you on SOMETHING soon!

Wearing a few of my Favorite Things!

Hello and good morning from the beautiful Pacific Northwest!  We have a rare thing today in Washington… SUN!  Thank you God for this beautiful weather today!!!

We will all be soaking it up, some of us will get sun burned… even though it is only supposed to be 70 today, but I promise it will happen.

I was very excited to wear a few of my favorite things today (refer to my 5 Things I currently Love Post from a few weeks ago!) including my Steve Madden Sandals and my Stella & Dot Arrow Bracelet!  And I also must mention that I can’t wait to be in actual sun in Hawaii in exactly 30 days!!!!

HAPPY WEDNESDAY EVERYONE! I hope you have Sun wherever you are today as well!

Ugly Crying Black Mascara Tears… UPDATE!

Nashville - Love Like Mine

Ugly Crying Black Mascara Tears

So you’re probably wondering what the heck the title of my post “Ugly Crying Black Mascara Tears” even means.  Well I’m a HUGE fan of the show ‘Nashville’ on ABC and Hayden Panettiere (aka: Juliette Barnes) sings a song called “Love Like Mine” that has a line in it that I can relate to about being hurt and “Ugly Crying Black Mascara Tears”.  I have been hurt by Maybelline… for Discontinuing my favorite & beloved Mascara!

Humble Brag time: Ok, if you know anything about me you know that I love my eyelashes.  Whenever I’m asked what my favorite feature is, I always say my eyelashes.  My husband knows all too well that I literally spend 30+ minutes just to apply my mascara because I want my eyelashes to look perfect! Yes, it’s true, I was blessed in this area.  Most women do not have naturally long & luscious eyelashes, so I am very thankful!  With that said, I’m sure you now realize the importance to me of finding the perfect Mascara!

Really Maybelline?: After 10 years of using the same Mascara, I recently was forced to change due to Maybelline discontinuing the XXL Volume Mascara (hence the ugly crying black mascara tears).  Ladies, you know what it’s like when you find that PERFECT Mascara that just works, well I had that with the Maybelline XXL mascara.  A girl can only go so long trying to make that last tube of your favorite kind work before she realizes that its time to move on.  In my search for the new perfect mascara, I have purchased two: “The Rocket Volume Express” & “The Colossal Volume Express”.

Blog - Mascara Photo

The Rocket Volume Express VS. The Colossal Volume Express

*The Sandy Beach theme of this pic is because all I can think about is the fact that I’m leaving for Hawaii in 41 days!!!*

The Rocket Volume Express: So far so good.  When I first opened and started to use it I thought the actual size of the brush was too big.  Then at one point I thought, “Oh crap, I hope I didn’t just buy this because of the fact that there is hot pink on the packaging”.  Luckily, I overall like it!  The only real “con” I came up with is that I don’t like the tip of the brush – there are no bristles at the very tip, like my old mascara had, that I would use for getting in those harder to reach corners of the eye, eyelashes.

UPDATE!

The Colossal Volume Express: I know this may sound weird, but my first comment about this mascara is going to be that I don’t like the smell.  Haha.  I’ve never been so turned off by the smell of a Mascara before.  Ugh.  Moving on…My friends Jessica (The Jones Family Five) & Corianne (Band 0f Burtons) were on pins and needles asking what I thought about The Colossal and when I would blog about it.  I started to explain to them that I love the Brush that comes with the Colossal, but I’m not a fan of the actual consistency of the Mascara. And also regarding the Rocket, I love the consistency of the Mascara, but hate the brush.  It was at that very moment that I had this epiphany – which is my final conclusion to this post.

Final Conclusion: After much discussion and review I have come to the conclusion that  The Colossal Brush needs to be put in The Rocket’s Mascara!   Through this review I’ve realized that I don’t like either the Rocket or the Colossal Mascara’s on their own – BUT with their super powers combined it’s the perfect Mascara!  Once I use both of these I will not purchase them again… I will be moving on and reviewing other Mascara’s.  Keep your eye peeled for my next Mascara review and let me know if you have any Mascara Suggestions for me!

Sock Bun

Image

My arms hurt…

Today I did my first Sock Bun and it was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be! I first went on to YouTube and found some video tutorials of how to do it and that got me started.  Please learn from my mistakes… I would HIGHLY recommend that no one try this for their first time at 6:30 in the morning when you only have 15 minutes before you need to leave the house!!!  It still turned out OK, but I was a stressed out mess by the time it was done.  I had to do it a total of 5 times before actually getting it to look half way decent and let me tell you, the arms were a burnin’!  A little (ok, half the can) hairspray and 45 bobby pins later it’s a masterpiece!  Mark my words, I will conquer the Sock Bun again and continue to get better at it.  The End!
